There are a whole host of reasons why even cost-effective energy efficiency projects don’t get off the ground. One of the most common (and frustrating!) reasons is that management don’t sign off on business case proposals – even when we can clearly see that the benefits far outweigh the costs!
This failing can be avoided with effective communication of the business case!
On behalf of the NSW Office of Environment and Heritage Ndevr Environmental in partnership with Sustainable Business can help you get your project over the line with a succinct but comprehensive course in Building the Business Case. Held over two half days, these highly interactive sessions provide us with an opportunity to share our experience, encourage participants to share their own challenges and successes and, ultimately, to help both the professionals responsible for their company’s energy management and consultants alike to get their projects the tick of approval. We have been running these training courses for the NSW Office of Environment and Heritage for the past two years and so far over 250 people have been through 15 courses, and the strategies have delivered results.
The Property and Sustainability Coordinator at Southern Cross Care (NSW & ACT) had this to say:
“Attending the Building the Business Case training course and taking up the additional post-training support was a very smart move. As a result, we had our business case for a solar energy project approved after an earlier proposal had been rejected by our board. We are now saving about $28,000 a year off our energy bills.”

Costs
These courses are currently heavily subsidised by the NSW Office of Environment and Heritage. In fact, the 2 x half day workshops are available for only $300 and once you complete the course you are eligible for 15 hours of one-on-one project support (valued at $3,000) for an additional $300.
