What drives you? A passion for averting climate change and protecting the beautiful natural places that I love. I’m also inspired by the idea that, if we adjust how we do things, we could live lightly on this earth and look after it for generations to come.
What projects do you work on that you love or are most passionate about and why? Helping companies develop their sustainability/ESG strategies. This can be a big step forward on their sustainability journey and I get to see them grow and evolve as an organisation, becoming agents for positive change.
Career highlight/game changing project/something that made a big impact: My sustainability career has been multifaceted. During my time working in advocacy, I co-directed Australia’s largest climate action summit. It brought together 1,500 young people from around Australia for three days of inspiring speakers, trainings and a collective action. I still sometimes bump into people who tell me, all these years later, that their climate leadership journey began at that event.
I did a solo bicycle journey from the bottom of Tasmania to the top of Queensland in search of innovative sustainability initiatives. I spent eight months on the road visiting around 70 sustainability projects, researching and writing about many of them. The journey had a big impact on me, revealing the many different ways Australians are tackling the big environmental challenges of our time.
The world is now moving on ESG at an unprecedented rate. Working in sustainability consulting, it’s exciting to be part of this huge transition we’re going through and each ESG strategy I work on is a chance to have an impact.
