What drives you? I’m passionate about rectifying the disconnect between the decision makers and the consequence bearers. The understanding that the impacts of climate change are already and will continue to exacerbate existing inequalities both in Australia and around the world drives me to contribute to climate action.
What projects do you work on that you love or are most passionate about and why? I enjoy working on large emissions reduction projects because the scale of the impact is so significant. I also love local projects which are often occurring outside of legislated requirements and are instead driven by a desire for climate action at the grassroots level. It’s easy to be passionate about these projects because they are so focused on being beneficial for communities into the long term.
Career highlight/game changing project/something that made a big impact: I was in a student team at university which came third place in the US Department of Energy’s Solar Decathlon competition with our design for net-zero social housing. Speaking to stakeholders throughout the design process was a great lesson in understanding how environmental, social and economic sustainability need to be considered for projects to be successful throughout their lifetime.
