What drives you? A devotion to protecting and enhancing cultural and biological diversity, and the core belief that everybody has the right to a safe and healthy environment.
What projects do you work on that you love or are most passionate about and why? I love working on projects that reconcile local action with global imperatives – that are informed by diverse voices and drive structural change. I love problem-solving and strategising ways that businesses can harness nature-positive opportunities while driving top line growth.
Career highlight/game changing project/something that made a big impact: An internship early in my career with Indonesian NGO Kaleka, where I worked with West Papuan nutmeg farmers to map nutmeg value chains and develop a business strategy to repurpose the chemical constituents of native low-grade nutmeg for use in alternative value-added products. This project opened my eyes to the complex social, political and economic realities of sustainable land management, and spurred me to take a different career path – one where I could contribute to overcoming some of these challenges!
